People can heal from trauma. Trauma is part of the human experience and connects us all. But too often we normalize or minimize its major impact on our lives. The effects of trauma can show up in so many unwanted ways: perfectionism, anxiety, relationship struggles, anger, chronic pain, addictions, self-loathing, people pleasing, shame, insecurity. Maybe these resonate with you.
I specialize in treating trauma and all of trauma's unhelpful side effects. I help people who've experienced distressing life circumstances let go of shame, rediscover who they are, and find reasons to smile again. Chances are, if you have a negative belief about yourself or the world and it's greatly impacting your happiness, there is a wound from your past that needs some care and attention. I'd like to help with that.
I use healing methods beyond traditional talk therapy. If you've found limited symptom relief from talk therapy, I encourage you to consider something new. I am an EMDR certified therapist and Usui Reiki Master. I use EMDR therapy, expressive arts, IFS methods and body-based practices in my trauma-focused work. Trauma impacts our nervous system, storing itself in our cells. My purpose is to help you release that trauma with safety; to help you rediscover your authenticity and live a life with power over your triggers. And I'll provide you with a bunch of tools to take with you along the way.
It is of utmost importance to me that you leave your session feeling seen, heard, and valued for the truly unique, worthy and deserving person that you are. You can borrow the compassion I give you while learning to give yourself some grace and compassion of your own.
I have worked with people from all walks of life, serving in a variety of settings: children's hospitals, schools, nursing facilities, services for people with developmental disabilities, mental health facilities, directly in homes, homeless shelters, public housing, and the Department of Veterans Affairs. Wherever you are in this moment- I will meet you where you are in life. All faiths welcome. All genders welcome. All people welcome.
You deserve to heal. And you deserve safety, connection, and support through this process. I would be honored to help discover what healing looks like for you, should you choose to no longer travel that path alone. You were never meant to do this all alone.
